History:
In 2019, G -SHOCK released their carbon-reinforced resin as a third material to join the traditional resin and metal. Carbon fibre is a material that was developed as a result of space research and is lighter than steel while yet being strong and durable. Because of such features, as well as the additional benefits against changes in temperature and old age, it has earned a position in the watchmaking business. Casio spotted an opportunity and developed the Carbon Core Guard construction to boost the robustness of the G-SHOCK to new heights. MTG-B2000YBD
Metal series G-Shock MTG-B2000YBD:
Featuring a monocoque case of carbon-reinforced resin framed in metal for lighter weight and a more durable timepiece. The metal frame connects with a multilayer bezel forged from laminated sheets of carbon- and glass fibre that is heat-pressed to form a base plate and then cut to form. The layered composite band results in a lighter watch with an even more detailed metal texture.
This revised construction was used into the MT-G series the following year, in 2020. The MTG-B2000 series was the first to have a carbon fibre reinforced resin monocoque case with metal components. The MTG-B2000YBD seen here is the series’ next act, extending the usage of carbon to the bezel frame encircling the casing to further decrease weight. The frame is machined from a heat-pressed block of 235 laminated sheets of carbon and glass fibre layers. A 77 percent weight reduction over stainless steel is an incredible feat in and of itself, and the black and red stripe design on the side of the casing surely draws your attention.
If you look at the watch in person, you will see a splendid dark dial softly complemented by a carbon fiber checkerboard pattern set on the four corners of the bezel, and black and red stripes as soon as you start to tilt the watch. still. Best of all, you’ll realize that this style of design is also important for creating ultra-lightweight and shock-resistant watches. GSHOCK doesn’t get any more intense than that.
