The World’s First Multi-Function Digital Watch – Cal. 0634 (1975)

In 1975, Seiko revolutionized the watch industry with the launch of the world’s first digital quartz watch featuring a chronograph, the Cal. 0634. This groundbreaking timepiece could record time to 1/10 of a second, had a lap time function, and an internal light for visibility in the dark. The Cal. 0634 was a massive success, creating a new market for high-function digital watches.

The World’s First TV Watch

Seiko made history again by introducing the first watch designed with both a TV tuner and a headphone jack, allowing users to watch TV anywhere. This innovative watch also featured an FM radio, alarm, chronograph, and calendar, blending entertainment with essential watch functions.

The World’s First Analog Quartz Chronograph

Combining quartz technology with mechanical chronograph expertise, Seiko introduced the world’s first analog quartz chronograph. Designed by renowned Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, this watch measured elapsed time to 5/100 of a second, offered split time capability, and included a tachymeter, setting a new standard in watchmaking precision.

The World’s First Watch with Computer Functions – UC-2000

Pioneering the age of portable information devices, Seiko introduced the world’s first wristwatch computer, the UC-2000. This innovative watch could store up to 2,000 characters, including telephone numbers, addresses, and a diary or schedule for up to one month, marking the beginning of the wearable tech era.
