Description
Since 2001, Frederique Constant has been dedicated to the development and production of its in-house Manufacture Calibers. The inaugural model was the Heart Beat Manufacture (cal. FC-910), distinguished by its signature open-heart design positioned at 6 o’clock on the dial and mainplate. Subsequent iterations of the Heart Beat Manufacture introduced additional complications, a silicon escapement wheel, and even an in-house Tourbillon.
In 2008, the brand began work on its second base caliber with a clear objective: redesign every component to reduce production costs by 30%, without compromising the exceptional quality standard established by the Heart Beat Manufacture series. This initiative led to the creation of the Maxime Manufacture (cal. FC-700), which enabled Frederique Constant to achieve significant economies of scale. In keeping with the brand’s Accessible Luxury philosophy, these savings were passed on to customers through highly competitive retail pricing.
Frederique Constant, in its current form, was founded in 1988 by Aletta Bax and Peter Stas. They launched their first collection in 1992, which featured six models powered by Swiss movements and assembled by a Geneva-based watchmaker. The company oversees every stage of watch production—from initial design to final assembly. Timepieces are either designed in-house or by external designers commissioned for specific collections. Emphasizing both innovation and style, the brand remains attuned to evolving trends and customer preferences. Advanced tools, such as computer-aided design software, play a key role in the creation and refinement of Frederique Constant timepieces.
